EDUCATING GIFTED AND TALENTED STUDENTS F23

The Montpelier School District seeks to provide all students with an opportunity to learn and reach their highest level of individual achievement. The district seeks to enable all students to discover passion and excellence in learning through a comprehensive system of education that complies with 16 VSA 2902. This policy specifically addresses those goals with respect to high achieving and gifted and talented students.

To meet these goals, the district will:

1. provide multiple and varied pathways for high achieving and gifted and talented students to satisfy their academic needs;
2. recognize and address the social and emotional needs of high achieving and gifted and talented students;
3. adopt and maintain a process to identify high achieving and gifted and talented students,
4. develop and maintain a structure and process for providing plans to meet the needs of high achieving and gifted and talented students; and
5. assist students in obtaining financial support, when appropriate, to enable them to take advantage of multiple pathways to meet these needs.
