Eighth Band Curriculum Objectives


Performing on instruments, alone, and with others, a varied repertoire of music.

1a Plays one octave of all major scales having key signatures up to four sharps and four flats.

1b Plays one octave of the chromatic scale.

1c Displays an appropriate range of pitches on their instrument.

1d Uses the proper embouchure, technique and holding position for their instrument.

1e Plays music and can count rhythms in a meter of 4/4, 3/4, 2/4 and 6/8.

1f Plays grade 2 sectional parts in an ensemble.

1g Improves tone quality and intonation on their instrument.

1h Performs specific articulations and dynamics properly

2a Sight-reads rhythmic phrases up to a sixteenth note subdivision of the beat.

2b Sight-reads short melodic phrases.

2c Notates short melodic phrases accurately.
