Welcome! to the Montpelier High School CBL Website

Community Based Learning (CBL) is a “learning-by- doing” experience that utilizes the community as an extension of the classroom.  Students spend between 15 – 100 hours per semester in a community placement that they choose and set goals for their learning.  Along with weekly visits to their community site, students meet once a week with a school supervisor to reflect on the week’s activities and to check in on the progress of learning goals.  Students complete their requirements both during school hours and/or after school.  Students are expected to develop and complete a semester project that represents their learning and present it to a group of their peers and community members at the end of the semester.  Students receive academic credit for their work.  CBL is an elective course.
