830 PHOTOGRAPHY (N) (Fall and/or Spring)
SUMMARY:
The semester program will provide students with the experience of photographing a variety of subjects and will include attention to composition and perspective. Students will develop the work theyve taken in the schools darkroom facility. Students will also learn about the history and future of photography as well as the skills in using computerized image manipulation. Students will have access to 35 mm cameras, and they will study their components and operation.
EXPECTATIONS FOR STUDENTS:
Students are expected to take an active role in their learning by completing regular assignments which will be developed into a photographic portfolio. In addition, participation in a local exhibit is expected. Students will engage in critiquing work produced. Respect for the facilities and equipment is critical. Class meetings are apt to occur outside of the traditional, 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., school day.
ASSESSMENTS:
Specific and general criteria are developed for each assignment/project and students will be evaluated on their attainment of those criteria. Students will also be evaluated on their development of conceptual understandings and technical skills. Completion of assignments is expected.
