The high school parents group, the “Boosters,” welcomes you to a new year at MHS. Please look for Boosters news in the

e-mail newsletter from the school.

 

Events

The Boosters provide enrichment for all MHS students through the funding of academic, athletic and co-curricular activities. With continued budget cuts, our contributions are increasingly valuable for the continuation of many school programs. Money to fund these programs is raised in the following ways:

 

1.  Boosters run the indoor and outdoor concession stands during sporting events.  This is a great way to watch the

     game, meet parents and students, and catch the school spirit!  Contact Rita Lane at 223-3430 to sign up.

 

2.  The second annual Boosters Phone-a-thon was held on Monday, September 17, 2007.  This is our biggest fund-

     raiser.  We’re counting on the support and participation of as many students, parents and staff members as

     possible to make it a success. 

 

3.  Boosters will host the Celebration of Excellence Dinner on March 29, 2008.  This event, held at the Capital Plaza

     Hotel, offers a unique opportunity to socialize with MHS parents and community members and be entertained

     by student musicians and singers.  Mark your calendars now for this popular evening.  More details to come.

Parent volunteers are essential to the success of our events.  Please complete the enclosed Boosters Participation Form to let us know how you can help. 

MHS Spiritwear

Boosters will be taking orders for t-shirts, sweatshirts and sweatpants with the Montpelier Solons logo. A few of these items will also be offered for sale at the concession stands.  Sept. 7th is the deadline to receive your items before homecoming weekend on Sept. 28-29.  Please see the enclosed order form. (Note that these items are offered for sale at cost. This is not a fundraiser.) Contact Norma Segale at 223-3325 for orders or questions.

Monthly Meetings

Boosters meetings are held on Mondays at 7 p.m. in the MHS library (see below for schedule).  The Principal’s Roundtable with Peter Evans runs from 7-7:45 p.m.  This is an opportunity to meet the principal, ask questions and hear Peter and other staff members discuss specific issues surrounding school climate, policy, etc.  The next 30-45 minutes is spent on Boosters business and awarding grants – a great opportunity to learn more about the programs and activities at MHS.  Please join us.
