Visual Arts Skill Development
  1. Student shows skill development when creating art by using a variety of techniques, media, and tools for specific effects or purpose.
  2. Student shows skill development when creating art by building a working knowledge of the elements of art (line shape, form, value, texture, space, color.
  3. Student shows skill development when creating art by exploring various techniques to show 1 and 2 point perspective, size, overlapping, foreground, middle, and background.
  4. Student demonstrates communication skills in visual arts by demonstrating individual point of view to create meaning in their work of art.
  5. Student shows an understanding of visual arts concepts and vocabulary by describing and using elements and principles of design (rhythm, balance, emphasis, symmetry, the use of color, tint, hue, shape, complementary colors).
  6. Student shows an understanding of visual arts concepts and vocabulary by explaining and using different media and their characteristics.
  7. Student shows an understanding of visual arts concepts and vocabulary by describing his/her art and the art of others using appropriate art vocabulary.

  1. Student describes art using discipline specific vocabulary, i.e., positive/negative space - Symmetry, proportion, perspective.
  2. Student analyzes, interprets, and responds to art by comparing works of art.
