Skill Development
  1. Student shows skill development when creating art by using the elements and principles of 2 and 3 dimensional design in art including line, color, shape, value, texture, form, space, balance, rhythm, repetition, etc., when creating drawings.
  2. Student shows skill development when creating art by drawing and observing real life objectives.
  3. Student shows skill development when creating art by selecting tools and materials for specific purposes.
  4. Student shows skill development when creating art by creating 3-dimensional objects from original drawings, using a variety of techniques and mediums (clay, wood, foam, additive and subtractive, sculpting).
  5. Student demonstrates, performs, and communicates skills in visual arts by selecting a piece of their own art for public exhibition and defending their choice.
  6. Student demonstrates, performs, and communicates skills in visual arts by demonstrating individual point of view to create meaning in their work.
  7. Student shows an understanding of visual arts concepts and vocabulary by describing and integrating elements and principles of design.
  8. Student shows an understanding of visual arts concepts and vocabulary by describing qualities different media possess with appropriate vocabulary.

  1. Student describes art using discipline specific vocabulary of visual arts (unity, emphasis, movement, balance, sculpture techniques, additive and subtractive).
  2. Student describes art using discipline specific vocabulary by explaining qualities (elements and principles of design and expression) and how they evoke emotion and meaning.
  3. Student critiques and revises art by asking questions about their own work.
